Soundtrack Saturday (38)

I love books, and I love music. I also love pairing up songs from my extensive iTunes library to books I read. What better way to do that than create a meme, right? Well... that's just what I did! Soundtrack Saturday was born in 2014, and in the posts, I create playlists for the books I've read.

Each Saturday, I'll post a new soundtrack, but that's not all! You can, too! I'm inviting all book bloggers to participate in this meme! Like other bookish memes, I'll be posting a linky at the bottom of my post so that you can share your Soundtrack Saturday playlist for other bloggers and blog readers to find. (I promise to check yours out if you leave a link!)

As with all bookish memes, there are a few easy steps to follow to help you create your own perfect Soundtrack Saturday post:

  • Choose a book that you've read or are currently reading - any book is fine!
  • Create a full (10-12+ songs) or mini (4 songs) based on the book of your choosing
    • For more detailed instructions on how to create your soundtrack, please visit the meme's homepage.
  • Please credit me somewhere in your post. It can be as simple as "Soundtrack Saturday is a weekly meme that was created by Erin at The Hardcover Lover."
  • Leave a comment on my blog post if you enjoy the feature
  • Add your name to the link-up tool at the bottom of the post if you participated

The Forbidden Wish

The Forbidden Wish is an Aladdin retelling by Razorbill author, Jessica Khoury. As I was reading this gorgeous book, so many different kinds of music genres popped in my mind. I thought of everything from music from Disney's Aladdin to Arabian and Arabic music to contemporary pop music.

As I was thinking of songs to add to this playlist, I stumbled upon a very talented composer named Brandon Fiechter on YouTube. I started listening to his music, and I just knew that I needed to include pretty much all of it in this week's Soundtrack Saturday because it's just so perfectly fitting. Don't worry if you've never heard of him or his music; I've added the links so you can give him a listen and judge for yourself! (Seriously, though... he's good!)

1. "Arabian Nights" by Brandon Fiechter
2. "The Cave of Wonders" by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman
3. "Magic Palace" by Brandon Fiechter
4. "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" by Brandon Fiechter
5. "Marketplace" by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman
6. "Bazaar Merchants" by Brandon Fiechter
7. "Sultan's Palace" by Brandon Fiechter
8. "Desert Prince" by Brandon Fiechter
9. "Treacherous" by Taylor Swift
10. "Quit You" by Tristan Prettyman
11. "Djadi" - Open Sesame
12. "Happy End in Agrabah" by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman

Feel free to add your link if you posted a Soundtrack Saturday today!
